The Minnesota Timberwolves have the chance to put the Los Angeles Lakers’ season to bed tonight, as they will enter Game 5 in Los Angeles with a 3-1 lead. Leading the charge has been Anthony Edwards, who has been excellent throughout the series.
Edwards is averaging 29.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists while shooting 45.2% and 43.2% from three. With how he’s performed so far, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith sent a rather unique message regarding Edwards’ play.
"The best player in this series, with LeBron and Luka on the basketball court, is a 23-year-old with a $200+ million contract playing like he broke,” Smith said on ESPN’s Get Up. “... Last statement, I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, he is a shark in blood-infested waters.”
Smith predicted the Lakers would come out victorious. However, he added that the moment shouldn’t get to Edwards.
"Yeah, I think this series is going to go back to Minnesota, but make no mistake, he’s coming to take them out in LA," Smith added. "He wants to ruin Tinseltown for them all summer long. Ant-Man is coming. I’m sorry, he’s arrived.”
The Timberwolves’ frontcourt advantage has proven to be huge in this series. Still, Edwards’ ability to play at the same level as Luka Doncic and LeBron James has also helped Minnesota pull away over the last two games.
