Naked body found off Malibu as hurricane damage forces celebrity enclave to evacuate

A naked man was found dead in the waters off Malibu on Wednesday as the celebrity enclave grappled with damage from Hurricane Marie that forced evacuations from dozens of homes.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were called to the beach just north of Malibu Lagoon around 3 p.m. after reports of a body in the water.

Firefighters pulled the man from the water, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation into the death, though authorities said there was no clear indication of foul play.

Aerial footage from the scene showed several sheriff’s deputies and firefighters gathered on the beach near a large canopy covering the man’s body.

Meanwhile, Malibu’s ultra-wealthy playground has been blocked off after a large sinkhole ripped through a private road, prompting evacuation orders for 31 properties in the celebrity enclave.

And sitting perilously close to the gaping crater is Nicolas Cage’s $10.5 million cliff-top mansion.

The collapse left residents stranded and cut off emergency access along the private road, which has only one entry and exit.

Cage’s four-level, 3,900-square-foot oceanfront mansion was left sitting beside the crater. The Oscar winner bought the spectacular property in 2024.

Sea Level Drive runs alongside famed Broad Beach, a star-studded stretch of multimillion-dollar homes where Pierce Brosnan, Dustin Hoffman, Ray Romano, Danny DeVito, Valerie Bertinelli and Mindy Kaling are among the current residents.

Now, the glitzy enclave has become an evacuation zone.

The City of Malibu declared a local emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation order covering 31 parcels.

The city continues preparing for potential strong storms, high surf, heavy rain, mudslides, and coastal erosion this winter, linked to forecast El Niño conditions.
