A WWE Hall of Famer has recalled wrestling John Cena while paying a tribute to him. The Never Seen 17 retired last week following his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Tributes have been pouring in for Cena since his retirement, and former WWE Champion Kevin Nash didn't want to be left behind. Taking to social media, Nash posted a photo of him wrestling with the GOAT and paid his respects to him.

The photo was posted on Threads and has Nash delivering a knee strike to Cena at a WWE live event in 2011. In the caption, Big Daddy Cool praised the 17-time World Champion while joking that he injured himself while hitting the knee.

"I didn’t want to be the only wrestler who @johncena was ever in the ring with not to post a photo of me having the upper hand for one moment. Brilliant career and a fantastic human being. The smile made it the most beautiful moment in wrestling history. Thank you John. Respect …..and yes my quad exploded on impact,” he wrote.

Nash suffered quite a few quad injuries during his career, and this reference meant he was alright with joking about it now.

Kevin Nash thought John Cena would not job in his final WWE match

Ahead of John Cena's final WWE match, Kevin Nash shared his thoughts on how he believed the night would end for the Last Real Champion.

Speaking on his Kliq THIS podcast, the former nWo member said he doesn't see Cena losing his last match in WWE. He said it would be more of a celebration of his career on the night.

However, Nash's wish didn't come true, as the Leader of the Cenation went out by tapping to Gunther in his farewell match, leaving the fans in the Capital One Arena stunned in silence.
