Farewell my colorful pal

Peter Max, my longtime forever friend. We dinner’d together. I visited his studio, he visited my home. I have more Maxes than furniture. When a magazine printed a full-page glossy black-and-white photo of me, he Peter Max’d the magazine’s full page. He did my friend Our Town columnist Arlene Kayatt’s face on a paper napkin. She framed it.

Comedian Gary Willner remembered this. “I was MC’ing a place in Jersey. In those days Peter was praying to Our Lady of the Tax Shelter. He’d even painted a whole airplane for the Clintons. I remember him telling Cindy: ‘Rembrandt was not really a bad painter.’ ”

Willner recounts that I sent him word that I was there in the club with Peter Max and would he introduce Max to the audience. But Willner didn’t know what Peter looked like.

“The spotlight came on, the audience waited,” Willner said. “I didn’t know what to do so I pointed to some guy in the front who shook his head no. Cindy jumped up and said, ‘He’s right here!’ The spotlight hit him and I said, ‘Of course, you look so young I didn’t recognize you!’ Oy, a killer moment.” Willner’s next move was to go through the floor.

Peter’s smiling somewhere now.

Season of musing and amusing

Autumn is upon us. Time to ask the immortal question, why’s Kamala wear such lousy clothes?

Also the season to recall Fauci saying the pandemic didn’t begin in Wuhan. He meant Wuhan, North Dakota.

Also a bon mot that’s really bon is Rhea Perlman on husband Danny DeVito: “We’re still married. We just don’t want to live together.”

Embarrassing moments? 2008 Katy Perry did her hit “I Kissed a Girl” at the MTV Latin American Awards.

For finale she’d jump into a giant pink frosted cake. BUT she couldn’t then climb out. Kept slipping and falling back into the icing. Eventually they carried her off.

2012 Emmy Awards. Sofía Vergara’s dress split revealing her entire bum. Other than poor Sofía, nobody else seemed to mind.

Washington info: A news poll states that 82% of all people are tired of any news about the female bartender who’s limping for president. Such a number even includes said female bartender with that part in her hair which is dividing the news from her booze. Not knowing fizz from a gin mill’s foes, her divided group even includes herself.

Only in America, kids, only in America.
