Mumbai Indians react to rumors of Rohit Sharma joining KKR for IPL 2026 with famous Shah Rukh Khan dialogue

Mumbai Indians have shot down rumors of Rohit Sharma potentially joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2026. Sharing a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), they referred to KKR co-owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's famous dialogue from the movie 'Don', to deny the rumors.

After the former Indian captain topped the ICC rankings for batters in men's ODIs, the rumor mill picked up pace as the Knight Riders shared a congratulatory message on X. They replied to a fan comment about the rumors, writing:

"CONFIRM World No.1 Men’s ODI Batter."

They neither confirmed nor denied the rumor, leaving the fans to speculate on what the social media post means.

Nevertheless, Mumbai Indians cheekily denied the possibility of the swashbuckling opening batter joining the three-time champions. They wrote:

"𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 ye toh confirm hai, but at (K)night… मुश्किल ही नहीं, नामुमकिन है!

The Nagpur-born cricketer joined the Mumbai Indians in 2011 and has been the heart and soul of the franchise ever since. The veteran cricketer succeeded Ricky Ponting as the captain in 2013 and went on to lead the Mumbai-based franchise to five title wins, the last of which came in 2020. The run made him the joint-most successful skipper in the tournament's history.

Although the Mumbai Indians failed to reach the final in IPL 2025, Rohit had a productive season with the bat as he scored 418 runs in 15 games at 29.85 and a strike rate of 149.28. The classy right-handed batter is likely to be retained ahead of the next season, along with Jasprit Bumrah and captain Hardik Pandya.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the auction for the 2026 edition is likely to be held from December 13 to 15. Both venues and dates are yet to be finalized.
