Muhammad Ali series produced by Michael B. Jordan gets exciting announcement

A new Muhammad Ali series is on the way.

First reported on by Deadline, "The Greatest" has kicked off production in Toronto. According to the publication, the eight-episode series will feature "defining moments in Ali’s life and career, both in and out of the ring, that have been well documented, and moments that took place outside the spotlight." This will include a look into the personal elements of Ali as a man, husband, father, brother and son. Ben Watkins ("Cross") will direct the first two episodes of the series.

Ali’s widow, Lonnie Ali, will executive produce alongside Michael B. Jordan, who is currently celebrating the success of "Sinners," which is projected to pull in over $400 million worldwide at the time of this writing. Jaalen Best is set to take on the role of Ali, with Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier locked in as Cassius "Cash" Clay Sr. and his wife Odessa "Bird" Clay, the parents of Muhammad Ali and Rudy Clay.

Meanwhile, the show has already been spotted filming in Cambridge, Kentucky, the birthplace of Ali. A crew member confirmed to CambridgeToday that the crews were there to film scenes, and that the house on the set as a stand-in for Ali’s childhood home.

More information on the series is expected in the coming months.
