MTA worker finds dead body inside NYC subway utility closet

An MTA track worker made the gruesome discovery of a dead body inside a utility closet in a NYC subway tunnel Saturday morning, cops said.

The worker was involved in an ongoing project at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem when he found the remains of a man inside the closet on the No. 6 line, about 100 feet north of the station on the downtown side, around 11 a.m., a source familiar with the investigation said.

“It looks like somebody who’s been there at least a few days,” the source said.

EMS rescuers declared the man, who appeared to be in his 20s or 30s, dead at the scene, cops said. His identity remained unknown.

There was no obvious trauma to the body and police do not suspect criminality.

The Office of the City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, cops said.
