How many World Cups has England won?

England won the World Cup in 1966, a run that is still remembered fondly by English fans, but the majority of fans alive today haven't seen the country win the World Cup. It's been 60 years since England's last appearance in the World Cup final, with semifinal appearances in 1990 and 2018 but no such luck in the round. England is hoping 2026 brings about better fortune, and two more wins would give the country its first World Cup win in generations.

How many World Cups has France won?

France has won the World Cup twice, most recently in 2018. France previously won in 1998, when current manager Didier Deschamps was the team's captain.

France was the host country when it won in 1998, defeating reigning champion Brazil in the final, and a win over Croatia in the 2018 final marked a return to glory for the squad.

Before 2026, Argentina's two wins came in 1978 and 1986. Argentina was the host nation for its first World Cup win, and Diego Maradona made Mexico feel like home in 1986 when he scored five goals on his way to a title.
