Morice Norris posted uplifting message before injury in Lions preseason game

Before his frightening injury on Friday night, Detroit Lions defensive back Morice Norris posted an uplifting message to Instagram earlier in the day.

Norris suffered an undisclosed injury in the preseason Week 1 contest against the Atlanta Falcons. The second-year pro got hurt trying to make a tackle and was transported off the field on an ambulance before being taken to the hospital.

As of this writing, there is some positive news to report, which comes from head coach Dan Campbell.

“He’s breathing, he’s talking. It’s good,” Campbell said, per Pride of Detroit. “He’s got some movement, and now they’re running more tests.”

“Obviously some members are going to stay back. We have some players, I know that want to see him,” Campbell added. “We’re going to take care of him. I know his mom is with him, which is awesome. It’s good to hear.”

Hours before kickoff, Norris posted this message to his Instagram story.

Again, this message was posted before the game. Neither Norris nor anyone from his family has issued a statement since the injury occurred.

Following Norris' injury, both teams decided they were going to run out the clock. The league then officially suspended the contest.

"I don't think anybody on that sideline wanted to play... I think you could look at everyone's eyes and see it's not worth it," Allen said.

"It's just awful... you sign up for football and you understand the risk...but you never think something like that is going to happen," Allen added.

“Raheem Morris is a class act, he’s the ultimate class act,” Campbell said. “We agreed that it just didn’t feel right to finish this game, and that man’s a class act. Always has been.”

There hasn't been any further update since Campbell's after the game, so it would appear there won't be any more new information until Saturday morning, at the earliest.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Norris and his family.
