Moment cops find toddler trapped in a car seat while allegedly drunk mom snoozed through house fire

A terrifying scene unfolded in Arizona after police found a toddler strapped to a car seat inside a home filled a smoke-filled home — while the child’s mom was allegedly passed out drunk on the floor.

The shocking scene scene was captured on bodycam footage from Glendale Police Department officers who rushed to a home near 67th Avenue and Cactus Road on August 1 after reports of a house fire, according to 12News.

The video shows cops charging into the smoke-filled home before discovering a 2-year-old child helplessly strapped into a car seat and unable to escape.

The officers quickly scooped up the barely conscious, unresponsive toddler and rushed the child outside to safety so they could breathe fresh air.

Police then return to find the mother, asleep on the floor unconscious by the couch. She’s since been identified as 26-year-old Kallien Heathman. 

The video shows the cops inside and immediately find a 2-year-old child trapped in a car seat unable to get out. 12News

In the video, cops attempt several times to wake up Heathman, informing her they are there and then dragging her out of the home.

As they attempt to get her to safety outside, she screams and fights with them.

Officers then return to find what was on fire. It turned out to be pizza cooking in the microwave, per the report.

Officers said it was Heathman’s 7-year-old child inside the home who called his dad who then called 911.

Heathman was the guardian at the time for both of the kids and is charged with felony child abuse, per the report. 12News

When police arrived, the kids told cops the woman inside was staying at her father’s home, identifying the person inside as his ex.

When the allegedly drunk mom was arrested, her blood alcohol level was five times the legal limit, per FOX 10.
