Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is in line for a return to Roma, with the Italian club set to re-sign him in the summer, as per reports.

Salah, 33, left Roma in 2017 and has gone on to cement his position among the pantheon of greats at Liverpool. Earlier last month, the Egypt international saw his relationship with manager Arne Slot and the Anfield hierarchy deteriorate following his outburst.

While he was integrated back into the squad before he departed for AFCON to represent the Egypt national team, there is still a belief that Salah’s future at Liverpool is still shrouded in uncertainty.

According to La Repubblica, Roma are exploring a potential deal to bring Salah back to the club. The Liverpool star initially joined I Giallorossi on loan in 2015 and was permanently signed in the summer of 2016 for a reported fee of €15 million.

The report, however, added that a January move for Salah is unlikely because their non-EU slots are filled. Instead, Roma are said to be eyeing a deal that could see the winger return to the Serie A in the summer.

Despite his age, Salah has displayed consistency in front of goal at the highest level. He helped the Reds win the Premier League title last season, finishing as the top scorer (29 goals) and highest assist provider (18 assists).

Saudi Pro League clubs lose interest in Liverpool star Mohamed Salah – Reports

Saudi clubs have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Mohamed Salah, as they believe the Liverpool star is no longer the potential difference maker he was before. Salah has long been on the radar of Saudi clubs, but the parties couldn’t reach an agreement over a transfer.

Towards the end of last season, the interest in the Egyptian was rekindled as his contract at Anfield was due to run out last summer. However, the former Roma man signed a new deal, extending his stay at Anfield until 2027.

According to a report in The i Paper, Saudi Pro League clubs' interest in Salah has waned ahead of the January transfer window. A source told the newspaper:

“For now, Mo seems to have got his way. It is nothing we haven’t seen before – he likes to stir the pot to get his way. There is certainly less faith here that a January move could happen as a result.”

While they believe signing a player like Salah would be ‘great,’ The i Paper claimed the source said their transfer model has changed, and they are now looking at signing younger players. Saudi Pro League clubs had earned the reputation of signing European stars who are in the twilight of their careers.

Recently, they have adjusted their transfer model to include elite European players who are still in their prime. A notable signing was Joao Felix, who joined Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr last summer.
