We started off the week on a high note, cashing two of our three MLB player prop wagers yesterday. We’re looking to keep that momentum going today, with another three bets to target.
Our favorite game to attack is the Dodgers vs Marlins contest, where the defending champs are set to tee off on a struggling Cal Quantrill. The righty has been a punching bag for enemy lineups this season, and the assignment doesn’t get any more difficult than facing LA’s heavy hitters.
MLB Player Prop Picks for May 6
Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115 at Bet365)
The first Dodger we’re betting on is Freddie Freeman. We’re taking over 1.5 total bases for him, a line he’s cleared in five of his last eight outings.
Freeman is on a tear to start 2025, batting .337 with 7 home runs and a 1.077 OPS. He’s got a sparkling track record versus Quantrill, hitting .529, with 3 extra-base hits in 17 career at-bats.
Freeman bats in the three-hole in the Dodgers lineup, behind All-Stars Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts. With so much caution needed versus those hitters, there’s nowhere for Miami pitchers to hide once Freeman is at the dish.
As for Quantrill, he’s already yielded 38 hits and 24 runs in only 26.1 innings of work. He’s allowed 15 runs in his last three starts alone, and has surrendered a hard hit rate of 48% this season.
Shohei Ohtani Over 2.5 Hits, Runs and RBI (-115 at Bet365)
We’re not done picking on Quantrill yet, as we’re also betting over 2.5 hits, runs, and RBI for Ohtani. Baseball’s best hitter went deep last night and has already scored 8 runs in only 14 at-bats versus Miami this season.
Ohtani leads MLB with a hard hit rate of 66%, and is slashing .304/.429/.826 over the last seven days, with 10 runs scored.
Nathan Eovaldi Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-140 at Bet365)
Last, but not least, we’re betting over 5.5 strikeouts for Texas’s Nathan Eovaldi. The right-hander faces his former team, the Red Sox, tonight, looking to continue Boston’s strikeout woes.
No AL team has fanned more than the Red Sox this season. They’re averaging over 9 Ks per game and have been strikeout-prone versus Eovaldi in the past. The Rangers right-hander has a 29.4% strikeout rate against the current batters in the Boston lineup and has posted a career-best 9.7 K/9 rate so far this season.
