The San Francisco Giants are going to be trade deadline sellers later this summer. With the August 3 deadline now less than a month away, their plans for the deadline are taking shape.
While they're going to sell, who exactly do the Giants want to part with this summer? It's an interesting question, especially with so many players who could fetch a solid return potentially being available.
But, according to MLB insider Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Giants reportedly "would love" to trade away two players from one part of the roster this summer: the Giants' infield.
Giants 'would love' to trade two infielders by August 3 deadline
"The San Francisco Giants, who would love to trade two of their infielders at the trade deadline, need to clear space for power-hitter Bryce Eldridge," Nightengale writes.
Bryce Eldridge is great, but with a crowded infield, the Giants need to clear space to get him on the field every day as a key part of the franchise moving forward.
To clear some space, the Giants want to trade away two of their infielders this summer, according to Nightengale. So, who could be on the move for the Giants in the next month?
Rafael Devers is someone the Giants probably regret trading for already, and there's been plenty of buzz about Devers being available for trade this season. He's currently clogging up first base and would be the ideal player to trade this summer.

Willy Adames and Matt Chapman are in a similar situation. Both are veteran infielders who are expensive, but could be realistic trade candidates this season. Chapman is more likely to go, but he's injured, complicating a potential trade.
Lastly, Luis Arraez, their All-Star second baseman, is the one player most likely to go. He's a $12 million rental, and there's just about zero reason to keep him on the roster through the deadline.
Buster Posey is almost sure to sell Arraez, but that's just one infielder. The Giants want to trade multiple. With Casey Schmitt, a breakout versatile option, he's not likely to be on the move this summer.
It appears that the Giants will seriously pursue trades involving Devers, Chapman, and Adames this summer. That's assuming Nightengale's report, in which the Giants "would love" to trade two infielders, is something Posey and company try to make happen.
