MLB insider breaks down new Red Sox ace's contract with team

The Boston Red Sox just acquired Walker Buehler as their newest addition to their rotation, and insiders are liking the move. MLB insider Russell Dorsey broke down the deal, stating it was good thing the Sox found a veteran for their young rotation.

“[Buehler] now becomes the veteran in a very young rotation. I think when you look at what Walker Buehler brings to the table, what he was able to do in that postseason run, that World Series run, you’re talking about a guy who pitched his best down the stretch for the LA Dodgers…now he becomes the veteran presence in that rotation”.

This past season, Buehler was coming off his second Tommy John surgery, and posted a 5.38 ERA, 1.553 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 with 64 strikeouts. However, in the postseason, he dropped his ERA to 3.60, and had 13 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.

Dorsey continued, saying Buehler is made for the big moments, as he has the fourth-lowest ERA in the history of the World Series.

Dorsey thinks Buehler is a very competitive guy, and sees Boston as a contender where he can compete for another championship. And hopefully, he’s right.
