MJF has made a surprise gesture just moments ago at AEW Worlds End. He suddenly paid tribute to former rival Adam Cole during his match following his absence from the company.
The two top stars were part of one of the biggest storylines in 2023, which saw Cole befriend Friedman, only for this to be a plot for his downfall. This concluded with Samoa Joe becoming the new AEW World Champion, and the Salt of the Earth being attacked by the Undisputed Kingdom. The two rekindled their feud a year later, and this concluded at Worlds End 2024.
Adam Cole has not been seen since All In: Texas, as he revealed that he was going on an indefinite hiatus from in-ring competition. He even hinted at a possible retirement. It was reported that he was dealing with concussion issues.
MJF has seemingly paid tribute to his former tag team partner as he ended up using one of his moves during his match. Friedman was taking on Swerve Strickland, 'Hangman' Adam Page, and Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship. He ended up connecting with a Panama Sunrise on Swerve.
A clip of the moment can be seen below.
Earlier tonight during the Zero Hour pre-show, Adam Cole made a brief appearance as he gave his analysis on the semifinals of the Continental Classic. He addressed the support of the fans as well, amidst his hiatus, and hoped that they'd see more of him in 2026.
While there have not been any concrete updates regarding Cole, there is always a great possibility that he'll make an in-ring return. He has dealt with health issues in the past and has always found a way to come back.
On the other side of things, MJF is back and better than ever, and his performance tonight may just be the start of things.
