Mitchell Starc rose to No. 2 in the latest ICC Test rankings after the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne. The left-arm pacer took four scalps as the bowlers had a feast at MCG with 36 wickets falling to pacers inside two days. Starc rose one place to second with a rating of 843, only behind World No.1 Jasprit Bumrah, who has 879 rating points.
Australia's Scott Boland was the other bowler who made big gains inside the top 10 list. The speedster rose two places with five wickets in the aforementioned Test. With three scalps, England's Gus Atkinson has surged four spots to joint 14th with Ravindra Jadeja. Brydon Carse also improved six rungs to 23rd after five wickets in the contest.
The Player of the Match, Josh Tongue, made a noticeable 13-point climb to 30th by taking seven wickets, including a fifer, as England won their first Ashes Test Down Under after nearly 15 years.
Harry Brook rises to No. 2 in latest ICC Test batting rankings; Shubman Gill re-enters top 10 list
With scores of 41 and unbeaten 18, England's Harry Brook rose three places to reach No. 2 in the latest ICC Test rankings for Tests. The right-handed batter is now only behind his teammate Joe Root, who has 867 ratings, 21 points more than him.
On the contrary, Alex Carey and skipper Steve Smith nosedived four and two places to fifth and 13, respectively. Travis Head (currently 4th), Kane Williamson (3rd), and KL Rahul (37) also dropped one point apiece.
Meanwhile, India captain Shubman Gill surged one spot to break into the top 10 list once again. Stylish opener Yashasvi Jaiswal retained his place at eighth spot.
India's Ravindra Jadeja also consolidated his No.1 place in the latest ICC Test rankings for all-rounders. The 36-year-old a handsome 111 ratings difference with second-placed Marco Jansen (344). England captain Ben Stokes is third in the list.
On the team front, Australia finished 2025 as the No.1-ranked Test side with 124 ratings. Reigning World Test Champions, South Africa, and England are second and third with ratings of 116 and 112, respectively. India are placed fourth with 104 ratings.
