The Pittsburgh Steelers picked up a scrappy 15-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, as the team is now 8-2 and has sole possession of first place in the AFC North through 11 weeks. Pittsburgh will travel to Huntington Bank Field to take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 12.
After stringing together a few productive outings, the Steelers' offense struggled to sustain drives on Sunday and failed to find the endzone. Arthur Smith's unit also converted just four first downs on 16 attempts. Luckily, Pittsburgh's defense shut down the Ravens' dynamic offense, and kicker Chris Boswell nailed all six of his field goal attempts, including three from 50-plus yards.
Boswell has been the Steelers' kicker since 2015 and is having a career year, hitting 29 of 30 attempts and 9-of-10 from 50-plus yards. The 33-year-old is playing so well this season that head coach Mike Tomlin is tired of Boswell winning weekly honors for his exceptional performances.
"I love Boz, but I'm tired of him getting player of the week," Tomlin said during his post-game press conference. "He probably got player of the week again this week. He's deserving of it, but it reminds us of our warts. It reminds us of the work that we need to do. But man, no doubt, I'm thankful that he's on our team."
The Steelers red zone offense was awful on Sunday, leading to Boswell kicking three field goals inside the 35-yard line. The veteran also nailed three long field goals, one from 50 yards, another from 52 yards, and finally, one from 57 yards, which is a season-high for Boswell.
Though Boswell kicking six times isn't a good sign for Pittsburgh's offense, it's refreshing to see that the former Rice standout is still one of the elite kickers in the NFL.
