The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received some devastating news on wide receiver Mike Evans, who exited the Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions early with an injury.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Evans suffered a broken collarbone on Monday night and that is going to keep him out for most of the rest of the season.
"Bucs WR Mike Evans suffered a broken collarbone and is out for most of the year, coach Todd Bowles announced. Absolutely brutal," Rapoport reported.
This is an absolutely brutal blow for the Bucs' offense. Evans has been the team's No. 1 wide receiver for years and is a crucial part of what Tampa Bay does.
With Evans out for a long time, the Bucs are going to need even more out of rookie Emeka Egbuka, who has been a revelation through his first seven games in the NFL.
Chris Godwin's return becomes even more critical, also. Godwin is dealing with a fibula injury and has missed the last two games, but it remains to be seen when he will return.
And, don't forget, the Bucs are also waiting on Jalen McMillan to return. He has been on injured reserve the entire season and there has been no update on his expected return timeline.
At this point, the Bucs, who fell to 5-2 on Monday night, might have to make a move at the trade deadline to improve their situation.
