Mike Conley gets real on Timberwolves' NBA Playoffs state amid Anthony Edwards injury

2 hours ago 3

The Minnesota Timberwolves are far from being in their best form. It has been quite obvious in the lead-up to the NBA Playoffs that they are not the same squad without Jaden McDaniels and Anthony Edwards. Coach Chris Finch even went as far as admitting that this was the case. When it comes to the players, it looks like everyone is also at a very fragile emotional state. Mike Conley unveiled why that was the case.

Conley drops honest Timberwolves, NBA Playoffs emotional state

The Timberwolves are not just used to making it in the NBA Playoffs mix. They are tough competitors who always want to go deep for a shot at the Larry O'Brien trophy. In fact, Coach Finch and Edwards have led this team to two-straight Western Conference finals. So, the natural progression was to either win it all or at least be the team which makes it out of the conference. A lot of this is starting to fade in the distance because of missing Edwards and McDaniels.

Conley outlined why they are at a very emotionally fragile state because of this, via Dave Campbell of The Associated Press.

"I know guys can get down individually if things aren’t going their way, and we do have an emotional team and it can spiral if it gets too crazy. It’s just about trying to keep everybody’s spirits up and understanding that we’re a really good team. Just because we hit a tough stretch with injuries or whatever we’re dealing with, we have a lot in the tank," the Timberwolves veteran declared.

As of the moment, the Timberwolves are in a lot of peril. They have lost three-straight games and are in danger going down to the seventh seed in the Western Conference. If that happens, they will have to battle harder in the NBA Play-In Tournament and will also likely face a loaded San Antonio Spurs squad with Victor Wembanyama in the middle. There is a lot riding on these next few weeks for Coach Finch, Conley, and the Timberwolves.

Will they get Edwards and McDaniels back in the NBA Playoffs before everything becomes too late?
