Michael Owen is no stranger to making bold predictions when it comes to football, but he has outdone himself with his latest prediction.
The former Liverpool and Manchester United star was asked for his predictions ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, and in true Owen style, he did not hold back.
Though Liverpool ran away with the title last season, many are predicting a tighter title race this time around, especially after each of last season’s top four dipped into the transfer market to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.
Chelsea, for instance, are one of the clubs that splashed the cash to strengthen several positions in their squad.
But despite the exorbitant amount of money the Blues have spent on their squad, Owen does not believe that they have a realistic chance of winning the league in the upcoming season.
What’s even more surprising is where Owen backed Manchester City to finish the season.

Michael Owen’s bold prediction regarding where Chelsea will finish next season
Like many other fans and pundits, Owen is backing Liverpool to retain the Premier League title next season.
But when asked who could upset the defending champions, he said, “I’m firmly in Liverpool’s camp, if there’s going to be an upset, I think Arsenal and the big outsider is maybe Chelsea. I don’t think Man City can bounce back that quick.”

Given that Arsenal have developed a knack for finishing second in the league, it’s not a surprise that Owen has predicted that for them again.
But Owen’s prediction regarding Manchester City comes as a real surprise, given that they have added some world-class players to their side and Pep Guardiola does not go trophyless for too long.
Chelsea being labelled as ‘outsiders’ for the title may not be a bad thing for the club as it takes the pressure off Enzo Maresca and his relatively young squad.
