As the month of June comes to an end, there isn’t a hotter team in Major League Baseball than the Miami Marlins. The Marlins completed their road sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The win marked their seventh straight overall and ninth in a row on the road, improving their record to 37-45.
After the game, MLB recognized the streaking young Marlins and highlighted the history the team made in the victory:
The Miami @Marlins:
- 7 straight wins
- 9 straight wins on the road
- have won every game of a 6+ game road trip for the first time in franchise history! pic.twitter.com/FV3TavIbXd
Amazingly, this was the first time the Marlins had won every game on a road trip of six or more games since the franchise began in 1993.
The Marlins used a five-run eighth inning to seal the deal in Sunday’s win. Arizona led 2–1 heading into the eighth before Otto Lopez drove in two runs and Kyle Stowers hit his 13th double, driving in three more. Stowers, who did not start the game, came in as a pinch hitter. He is now batting .279 on the season.

Cal Quantrill delivered five strong innings for the Marlins, allowing just three hits and two runs, while striking out five and walking one. The offense has been a huge factor during the winning streak, as the team is averaging over seven runs per game.
The Marlins will take Monday off before hosting the Minnesota Twins for three games, followed by a weekend series at home against the Milwaukee Brewers.
