Miami legend Cam Ward’s ‘sure bet’ prediction casts doubt on Will Levis’ future with Titans

Being the first overall pick in the NFL Draft is usually a dream come true for any player, but this year has been different. The 2025 draft class wasn’t considered particularly strong, so when Cam Ward was selected first overall, he wasn’t viewed as a generational talent.

In fact, since Ward was drafted, he’s arguably been one of the least talked-about No. 1 overall picks in NFL history.

“He's the least talked about, under-the-radar No. 1 pick I think in the history of football... Let's go back to last year's draft. He would've been in the mix... I think he would've been my 3rd QB,” Chris Simms said.

At the NFL Rookie Premiere, Ward—who is friends with Shedeur Sanders—tried to get a jersey swap with the former Colorado QB. Sanders, however, declined the request.

“Nah. I gotta sell it bruh. I gotta have some type of money. S**t, I’m already down,” Sanders told Ward.

Despite the low buzz around his name, Ward is expected to produce in Year 1. A recent ESPN projection has him throwing for 3,392 yards and 20 touchdowns over 15 starts. More importantly, Ward is projected to be the Titans’ Week 1 starter, which raises serious questions about Will Levis’ future in Tennessee.

“This is not one of the better quarterback classes in recent memory, with Ward as the only sure bet to start Week 1,” Mike Clay wrote.

Titans head coach Brian Callahan provided a balanced update on the ongoing quarterback competition.

“I've been pleased with their demeanor and their approach. Will's done a really nice job of getting better at things he needs to get better at. Cam's done a really nice job of integrating himself. I'm happy with where that's at,” Callahan said.

While Callahan appears optimistic about both quarterbacks, only one can start. And if Ward wins the job, Levis’ tenure with the Titans may be coming to an end — with trade talks likely on the horizon.
