Mets part ways with ex-Marlins, Guardians 4.52 ERA swingman

The New York Mets have just a few games remaining on their regular season schedule. 

But it's never too late to make roster adjustments. 

This time, the Mets have replaced a right-handed reliever with a lefty in the bullpen. 

According to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors, New York has designated righty Xzavion Curry for assignment. 

Taking Curry's place on the roster will likely be Phillip Abner, who was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Wednesday. 

Curry, 28, appeared in nine games with the NL East club and allowed 13 earned runs on 22 hits in 21.1 innings. 

He struck out just 16% of the batters he faced but managed to keep his walk rate at a somewhat respectable 9.6%.

Before this year, Curry spent parts of two seasons (2024-25) with the Miami Marlins and three years (2022-24) with the Cleveland Guardians. 

He has made 17 career starts in 71 appearances, throwing 171.1 innings since making his debut in 2022. 

In May, Curry signed a minor league deal with the Mets after he began the season in Mexico with the LMB's Tigres de Quintana Roo.
