Mets' Juan Soto receives All-Star voting results that make no sense

The New York Mets are having a terrible 2026 season, and it should come as no surprise that many of their players didn't receive much attention for the NL All-Star team.

Of the top-10 players to receive votes at every position (20 for outfielders), the Mets have only two players who made those lists. Juan Soto is someone who should be an All-Star this season, and it shouldn't be a surprise to hear he received plenty of votes.

However, as USA Today's Bob Nightengale shared, the ranking of Soto on the NL All-Star voting ballot makes no sense. Despite being one of the best outfielders this season, Soto was the ninth-ranked outfielder in fan votes so far.

Mets' Juan Soto is biggest snub of first wave of fan votes for All-Star team

Soto received a strong 421,513 votes for the NL All-Star team, which placed ninth, thanks to a very stacked NL outfield pool of players. The issue is that Soto shouldn't be on the outside looking in; he should be a top-three vote-getter.

Instead, Andy Pages (800,496), Ronald Acuna Jr. (693,472), Brandon Marsh (668,191), Michael Harris II (635,473), Teoscar Hernandez (507,635), Jordan Walker (437,071), James Wood (431,607), and Corbin Carroll (425,814) received more votes than Soto.

These voting results make zero sense for Soto. He has a .948 OPS this season, which is second only to Wood among all outfielders this season.

Obviously, the fan voting is skewed towards larger fanbases of teams having successful seasons. Thats why Hernandez received so many votes despite not being remotely close to All-Star level this season. He's a Dodgers player; they have a large fanbase

There should be no world in which Soto isn't an All-Star for the Mets this season, and he's almost sure to be named to the All-Star team even if he doesn't win the fan vote.

But that doesn't change how Soto is clearly a massive snub so far through the fan voting, as instead of ninth, he arguably should be top-three.

Soto can still earn an All-Star spot even if the fans don't vote him in, as they should. But, it's still a major snub for the fan voting results so far to leave Soto off the top-six NL outfielders.
