Mets add right-handed pitcher who made MLB debut with Orioles

The odds of the New York Mets earning a postseason berth are slim to none. 

That's no secret. 

Still, the NL East club is making roster moves for the season's final month. 

This time, they've addressed their pitching depth with a waiver claim for a rookie right-handed pitcher. 

According to a team announcement, the Mets have claimed Cameron Weston off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. 

Additionally, catcher Shawn Ross was designated for assignment to open space on the 40-man roster. 

Weston, 26, made his Major League debut with the Orioles in May. He threw one scoreless inning while recording a strikeout and a walk. 

He was an eighth-round pick by the Orioles out of Michigan in 2022.

Weston has spent the entire season in Baltimore's system at Triple-A Norfolk, posting a 7.89 ERA in 31 appearances, including seven starts. 

At Triple-A, he allowed nearly 12 hits per nine innings but also struck out 11.6 batters per nine. 

The Mets have decided to stash him at Triple-A Syracuse for the time being.
