The Detroit Lions helped Ahmed Hassanein make NFL history on Saturday.
With the 196th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Lions chose the edge rusher Hassanein out of Boise State.
He's the first Egyptian player ever chosen in the NFL Draft.
He might just be a sleeper, too.
Hassanein had 24 sacks in four years with the Broncos.
He's 6-foot-2 and 267 pounds.

Hassanein didn't play organized football until 2019.
Despite that, he quickly became a three-star high school recruiting prospect.
He chose Boise State over offers from four other FBS schools.
The Lions have continued to look for answers at pass rusher opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
It's unlikely that Hassanein will be the immediate option, but long term, he could be a player that rotates in to get after the quarterback in Detroit.
Not bad for a guy who grew up in Egypt. He'll have the chance to make a lot more history for his nation before his NFL career is done.
