American media personality Kim Kardashian recently found herself in hot water after she gifted each of her four children their own Pomeranian puppies this past week. According to Page Six, the socialite was criticized by the animal rights organization PETA after introducing four new dogs to her family during Christmas.
In a statement obtained by the Daily Mail, Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), called out Kim Kardashian and noted that people were “rightly” calling out the SKIMS founder on social media.
“Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,” Ingrid Newkirk said in the statement.Dismissing Kim’s move of failing to adopt the pets, Newkirk added:
“Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous, and so we ask Kim and Khloe, who did the same thing, to call PETA or a local shelter the next time they want to bring an animal into their home.”After Page Six shared the news on its official X account, netizens were quick to react. A Twitter user jokingly responded:
“Maybe she thought they were a labubu?!”@PageSix Maybe she thought they were a labubu?! 🤣
Some internet users shared similar sentiments and criticised the 45-year-old reality TV star. Sharing concerns that the puppies would not be cared for, they wrote:
@PageSix They will be returned I'm sure, or worse! When will people get it through their heads, dogs are for life, not a gift! 🤬🤬
@PageSix Christmas Day is the first time she’s seen all four kids at once this year. She can’t cook dinner for four kids. Let’s add 4 dogs
However, some fans of The Kardashians star took to the comments section and shared their support.
@PageSix Those dogs will have the best lives on earth, please
@PageSix PETA needs to relax
@PageSix Oh gosh shut up! These puppies will be VERY WELL taken care of and we all know it.

While the SKIMS founder gave the puppies to her kids, the Good America founder reportedly got a black Labrador retriever puppy.
“Try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis,” PETA founder asked of the Kardashian sisters.According to Page Six, Kim Kardashian came under fire after sharing a photo of four Pomeranian puppies on her Instagram Stories during the holidays. Sharing the image of four small puppies: two with dark fur, one with cream, and another with sable fur, she wrote, “Each kid got a puppy.”
While Kim Kardashian shares North West, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with her ex-husband Kanye West, Khloé Kardashian shares True, 7, and Tatum, 3, with her ex-partner Tristan Thompson. According to People, the 45-year-old also has other Pomeranians, two of whom joined the family in 2019.
Notably, the Kardashian-Jenner family is known to have several pets, including dogs, cats, lizards, and horses. Kylie Jenner is known for her love for dogs. On the other hand, Kendall Jenner reportedly owns a horse named Arizona.
For the unversed, the Kardashian-Jenner clan reportedly celebrated an intimate Christmas at Kendall Jenner’s Beverly Hills mansion.
