It's not often in the NFL that two teams have a simple route to trading away the players so heavily involved in rumors and just doing it for one another.
Usually there are draft picks or other pieces, a lot of quantity for a lot of quality.
For the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, though, maybe there's a simpler path.
Maxx Crosby appears to be on the Raiders' trade block, and the same is true for the Bears and wide receiver DJ Moore.
Both would fill a need for the other franchise, and ESPN's Bill Barnwell wrote in a new article on Monday that there's a logical trade to be lined up involving the two.
Barnwell proposes that Moore and a 2026 first-round pick to the Raiders would be worth Crosby and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
The pass-rushing superstar Crosby certainly warrants getting back that first-rounder in addition to the veteran WR Moore, and it's a trade that could actually make both teams better at spots they could really use the help.
Particularly for Vegas, their conceptual franchise QB Fernando Mendoza would get a reliable target.
The Bears would get one of the league's most impactful defensive players.
"Crosby pushes everyone into the right role, notably (Montez) Sweat, who would see far fewer double-teams," Barnwell writes. "Giving up a first-round pick would be painful, and the Bears need to address safety with Jaquan Brisker hitting free agency. But if they think they're close to making a deeper playoff run, adding Crosby would be one way to leverage Caleb Williams' rookie-scale salary."
This is certainly the type of move by Chicago that would signal it is really going after a Super Bowl.
And if the Raiders cash in on Crosby now, they can still ensure a strong return.
