The Dallas Mavericks have proven that they're willing to do whatever it takes to win a championship. Even if that means they move on from fan favorites like Luka Doncic in a trade that might not make much sense, the front office is hoping to put together a good enough roster to win it all.
As a result, nothing should be off the table for the Mavericks during the offseason, making them one of the more interesting teams in the league to watch.
There are ways to get creative for the Mavericks, and that's important. Getting creative in deals that could work out for them should be something the front office explores, as there are multiple players potentially available.
In a recent trade idea from San Vecenie of The Athletic, the Mavericks would do exactly that in a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The trade would swap Dereck Lively for Austin Reaves.
"He is a top-40 player in the league, something like that. I think he is so good, I think he is a monster. He has one year left on his contract before he gets quite expensive here. He is going to get very, very expensive moving forward. Is there anything around just Dereck Lively, who has played with Luka, who we know has great synergy with Luka, for Austin Reaves?" he said.
Swapping Lively with Reaves has its benefits, but Lively is also perfect for what the Mavericks currently need if Anthony Davis were to go down.

However, with the injury to Kyrie Irving, it's also fair to suggest that Reaves would be perfect for that spot.
From the Lakers' end, this is essentially a perfect deal. They need a center, and Lively would be just that, a perfect one, too.
