Mavericks predicted to land $146 million All-Star in dream trade scenario

5 hours ago 1

The trade deadline is three weeks away, and the Dallas Mavericks shockingly find themselves just three games over .500 a season after getting to the NBA Finals.

Every team has a dream target, whether they're attainable or not. Bleacher Report suggests that the Mavericks' dream target is Jimmy Butler, who's been no stranger to trade rumors surrounding the franchise.

The six-time All-Star could provide exactly what the Mavs need to get back to the NBA Finals. He's an elite shot creator at all three levels and has a proven knack for taking over games in clutch situations. It's a huge reason why the Miami Heat advanced to the Finals in 2020 and 2023.

Kyrie Irving has made his return to the lineup but still appears troubled by the bulging disc in his back.

There is optimism that Luka Doncic could be back in the mix before the All-Star break, but his calf injury appears severe and there is always a risk he could face a setback. The competition across the league is only going to get tougher, and the Mavs can only rely on Irving, Doncic and their chemistry so much before the Mavs lose their status as a legitimate contender.

Their championship window is now, and they can't worry so much about potential future assets or a role player or two in a chase for a title.

Butler is a game-changing talent. Adding him to the mix could help the Mavs weather the storm with their two superstars dealing with injuries and give them the third-scoring option they were clearly missing in the Finals last season.
