Cooper Flagg is special.
And if anyone still doubted that, Thursday night should've wiped away any lingering uncertainties about the Dallas Mavericks' rookie.
He dropped 49 points on the Charlotte Hornets in a ridiculous performance that captured the attention of the entire NBA.
Flagg went 20-for-29 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range, and he added a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line. He grabbed 10 rebounds, too.

In the process, he surpassed something the legendary LeBron James did as a rookie.
James had one 40-point game in his first NBA season. Flagg now has two.
There's some additional cool stuff at play for Flagg in this case, too.
He currently holds the record for most points scored in a game by an 18-year old in the NBA, with the 42 he scored early this season.
And his 49 points is the most scored by a 19-year old in an NBA game.

At that rate, maybe Flagg will just set all the age scoring records. Kidding, well kind of.
Flagg's superpower in his basketball career beyond his obviously immense talent has been to adjust quickly. In both college and now the NBA, he took a few games to get up to speed to start his career, but then he figured things out and started to be his dominant self.
There are no more moves up in level for Flagg to make. He will remain in the NBA going forward. And if he continues to adjust and improve, that's scary for the rest of the league.
