NHL brothers Matthew and Brady Tkachuk raved over Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin as part of their new podcast, Wingmen with Matthew and Brady Tkachuk.

The superstar sibling duo, who are currently rehabbing from injuries, headlined their premiere episode by discussing their experiences playing for Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off last year.

But something that stood out among that experience was playing with Team USA forward Dylan Larkin.

Matthew Tkachuk had this to say about playing with Larkin:

"He (Dylan Larkin) was unbelievable. He was unreal. He started off as, I think, fourth line, right or left wing, and just like one of the best players in hockey, and an incredible teammate, incredible leader. Just a great guy, a great guy. One of our best players like, by the end of it.”

Larkin, who’s currently in the third year of an eight-year, $69.6 million contract, was one of the most influential pieces in Team USA’s roster at the 4 Nations. His overall skill set allowed the Americans to come within inches of the gold medal against Team Canada.

That situation prompted Brady Tkachuk to state:

“It shows like, I feel like, it shows like a special player when he can play with, like, legit, anybody and just and still be at his best. Like that takes no versatility. And he's one of the most versatile guys in the NHL.”

That versatility was what captured the Tkachuk brothers’ attention the most. Larkin was an influential part of Team USA’s dynamic, one that will hopefully carry on to the 2026 Olympics in February of next year.

Matthew Tkachuk drilled down the point by stating:

“He was a great, fun player.”

Matthew and Brady Tkachuk may have enjoyed their time with Dylan Larkin. But once they get back on the ice, they’ll be rivals once again.

Check out the premiere episode of the Wingmen from the 46:30 mark onwards.

Matthew and Brady Tkachuk dabble in media amid injury recovery

Matthew and Brady Tkachuk are currently sidelined with injuries. Matthew Tkachuk sustained a groin injury precisely at the 4 Nations. The groin pull turned out to be a torn adductor muscle, an injury he played through during the Florida Panthers’ second Stanley Cup championship run.

Matthew required surgery to repair the injury this past summer. He’s expected to return to the ice at some point in 2026.

Meanwhile, Brady Tkachuk sustained a hand injury early this season. The Ottawa Senators captain took a cross-check from Nashville Predators’ captain Roman Josi in an October 13 game. The hit injured Brady’s thumb, also requiring surgery to repair the damage. The prognosis for Brady is six to eight weeks.

In the meantime, the Tkachuk brothers used their time to launch their new podcast. It’s unclear how many episodes the duo will produce before hitting the ice. After that, it’s also unclear if the brothers could continue with their show while playing.

NHL fans will get to hear from two of the league’s most noticeable stars while they’re on the mend.
