The Arizona Cardinals are 2-4 in the regular season, and they recently traded away first-round wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans.
They got a second-round pick in return, but that doesn't change how disappointing Harrison's tenure in Arizona was. But, there are still some stories behind the trade, and recently, one was revealed.
ESPN's Josh Weinfuss revealed that Harrison, before the 2026 NFL season, had some concerns about the quarterback room with both Jacoby Brissett and Carson Beck, which sparked his interest in requesting a trade this season.
Marvin Harrison Jr. requested a trade due to QB room concerns
"Meanwhile, things were trending in the wrong direction for Harrison, who was concerned with the quarterback situation," Weinfuss writes. "The uncertainty of how long Jacoby Brissett would be starting this season, and whether Brissett was part of Arizona's long-term plans, weighed on Harrison."
Arizona doesn't have a set-in-stone plan for their quarterback room this season, but for now, it's Brissett's job. He most likely will be benched at some point for Beck, the third-round rookie quarterback. But when that happens is up in the air.
However, it wasn't just Brissett that had Harrison worried: "Harrison wasn't sure how rookie quarterback Carson Beck was going to pan out," Weinfuss writes.

There is plenty of uncertainty at quarterback for the Cardinals this season, and looking into the future as well. That's even the case with Beck, who might not pan out, and even if he looks decent this year, he might not be the long-term QB in Arizona.
With so much uncertainty at the quarterback position, Harrison sought out a trade. He hired an agent to help facilitate his request, and the Cardinals and his agent eventually found a trade with the Texans as his landing spot.
C.J. Stroud is locked into the Texans' QB1 job in Houston, and while there's some uncertainty about his long-term future with the team, based on how he's playing, it seems very likely they'll sign him to an extension.
But this trade all began with Harrison's concern about the quarterback situation. He clearly didn't have much faith in Brissett or Beck, and was not keen on the uncertain future of the position beyond 2026 either.
