The iPhone Duo is now slowly making its way to users who placed their pre-orders last week and the first round of reviews are already out. The consensus is that it suffers from typical first-gen product shortcomings and most reviewers are not too fond of the Touch ID sensor. Depending on the orientation that you’re holding the device, it can be hard to reach and it also requires you to hold your finger on the sensor to fully unlock the phone.

It’s safe to say that Face ID is a highly requested feature for the Duo’s successor and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has already confirmed that Apple is testing the Duo 2 with the biometric facial recognition system.
During his latest PowerOn podcast, Gurman revealed that Cupertino is currently testing Duo 2 units with an under-display version of Face ID. It remains to be seen if Apple will be able to ship the Duo 2 with this feature next year, as its inclusion will rely on slimming down key components like the dot projector and IR camera.
Alongside the under-display Face ID, Gurman believes that Apple will bring the Action button, which is another hardware omission on the current model.
