Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs bowed out of the postseason race after losing to the LA Chargers in Week 15. The superstar quarterback also suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

Hollywood star and longtime Chiefs fan Paul Rudd shared his feelings on Monday about the team's early elimination and Mahomes' injury.

"I'm thinking about Patrick, I'm wishing him a speedy recovery and everything for the club, but I'm OK, and I'm excited," Rudd said, via the "New Heights" podcast. "You know what? I'm excited for some of the players to get maybe a little bit of a summer vacation.

"I mean, my God, you've been, you've (Travis Kelce) played an extra season of football compared to everyone else. And so I'm like, 'Oh, good, you get a break and some a chance to kind of rest up.' And so, yeah, I'm not too, too upset."

Mahomes tore his left ACL with less than two minutes remaining. He scrambled out of the pocket while being chased by Chargers defensive end Da'Shawn Hand.

The quarterback's knee buckled after planting his left foot to throw the ball for an incompletion. Mahomes dropped to the turf, grabbed his left knee in pain and was helped off the field. An MRI confirmed the season-ending injury, and he underwent surgery the next day in Dallas, where his LCL was also repaired.

Patrick Mahomes on his ACL injury and elimination

Patrick Mahomes penned an emotional message after tearing his ACL on Dec. 14. He thanked the fans for their support and promised to bounce back.

"Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it hurts. But all we can do now is trust in God and attack every single day," Mahomes tweeted.

The Chiefs will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2014. It will also be the first time Mahomes will not play in the postseason. Kansas City's dominance in the AFC West ended, with either the Denver Broncos or the LA Chargers winning the division this year.

Minshew Gardner took over as the QB1 in Mahomes' absence but sustained a blow to his knee against the Titans on Sunday. The Chiefs will host the Broncos on Christmas Day.
