The top-two teams out of the powerhouse Midwest Athletic Conference had an unusual status in Week 11 of the Ohio high school football season: They had byes.
Except for the COVID-19 2020 season, there had never been byes before in the OHSAA playoffs, but 12-team regions made that a necessity this year, and so Marion Local and St. Henry each got a week off.
They'll be back out there in Week 12 as the top-two seeds in Division VII Region 28 as they chase a potential regional final rematch.
Who is Marion Local playing next week?
Marion Local will match up with Lehman Catholic.
Those Cavaliers were the 8-seed and knocked off 9-seed Minster in an absolutely wild, 50-48 final on Friday night.
The Flyers will take a 74-game win streak into the game.
Who is St. Henry playing next week?
St. Henry will get a MAC rematch with New Bremen.
The 10-seed knocked off 7-seed Ansonia on Friday, 36-8.
During the regular season, St. Henry beat New Bremen, 20-0.
Elsewhere in the MAC
As mentioned above, New Bremen pulled out a 36-8 win over Ansonia to advance.
Coldwater crushed Covington, 48-0, and will travel to St. Bernard-Elmwood Place (9-1) in Week 12.
Anna raced past Deer Park, 54-15, and will visit Mechanicsburg next week.
And as mentioned above, Minster lost in brutal fashion, 50-48
