Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh had a very strange moment during the World Baseball Classic, but just as always, social media made it a much bigger thing than it actually was. It was obvious that the Team USA catcher didn't want to shake anyone's hand, even if they're teammates on the Seattle Mariners.
After the World Baseball Classic wrapped up, it continued to be an issue in the baseball world. So much so that Arozarena actually spoke to his teammates because he didn't want it to be a distraction.
"I understand that with Opening Day a few days away, I don't want it to be a distraction," Arozarena said. "Cal and I have talked and I apologized for what I said after the game. Nothing in the WBC takes away from the fact that we are brothers and teammates."
Skipper Dan Wilson said that it didn't surprise him that he apologized, and that they have a special group in Seattle.
“It doesn't surprise me,” he said, per ESPN. “That's what we've talked about in that clubhouse. It's just a special group. They love each other, and yeah, it's time. I think we're all ready to get back to Seattle and get this thing started.”
Arozarena and Raleigh might have had a strange situation unfold right in front of their eyes, but I think we can all say that these are grown men who aren't going to make this more than it has to be.
