The Seattle Mariners have signed a veteran infielder to a minor league contract.
According to Francys Romero, Andy Ibanez has agreed to a minor league deal with the AL West club.
The Mariners are Ibanez's third organization of the season.
He began the year with the Athletics but hit .118 in 18 plate appearances before being designated for assignment.
Sources: Utility player Andy Ibáñez has signed with the Seattle Mariners.
It’s a minor league deal.
Ibáñez, 33, hit .269 with 4 HR and 18 RBI in 31 games with Syracuse (Triple-A) before being released by the Mets.
The New York Mets scooped him off waivers a few weeks later, but most of his time with the NL East organization was spent at Triple-A Syracuse.

Ibanez was a solid option at third base, second base, and shortstop for the Detroit Tigers from 2023-25, posting a .744 OPS and 1.9 bWAR in 2023.
He's a below-average hitter against right-handed pitching, so Ibanez will need to fare well against southpaws for the Mariners to give him a look in the Majors.
The Mariners also have Weston Wilson as a right-handed bat off the bench, but Ibanez could take Wilson's role if his bat goes ice cold.
