Mariners receive bold 2026 prediction that follows in Seahawks' footsteps

The Seattle Mariners have begun to trend in the right direction in recent years. While they had a rough collapse in 2023, they've since made the postseason in back-to-back seasons.

And last year, they made it further than the franchise has ever made it, getting just one win away from the World Series. It was a near-first trip to the World Series, and heading into 2026 with more optimism than ever, it's not a surprise they're a contender.

Amid such optimism and momentum, MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince is predicting that the Mariners will not only reach the World Series, but just like the Seattle Seahawks, they will win their league championship.

Mariners predicted to win World Series in 2026

"The Mariners will win the World Series," Castrovince predicts. "It's time. It's time for Seattle to experience the glory of last-week-of-October baseball, and, heck, time for baseball to experience late October in Seattle."

If this prediction were to come true, then the Mariners would not just make it further than they've ever made it as a franchise, but they would win the World Series for the first time in their storied history.

But what makes such a prediction even more exciting is that this 2026 World Series win would come in the same year as two other major Seattle sports stories.

The first is, of course, the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. The other is that Seattle might be getting an NBA team in the near future. The Supersonics might be back.

Continuing a trend of the city of Seattle seeing its sports teams have success, the Mariners winning the 2026 World Series would be a fitting way to close out what's already been an incredible year for Seattle sports fans.

Cal Raleigh and the Mariners made it far last year, and seeing them return to the postseason and go on a run to win the World Series wouldn't be a surprise.

But that doesn't take away from this prediction being the best possible outcome for the 2026 season that the Mariners could hope for. Winning the World Series in their first trip would be an incredible story for Seattle that's 50-plus years in the making.
