The Seattle Mariners need a third baseman.
Luckily for them, a reunion might be in the works before the trade deadline.
MLB.com's Daniel Kramer reports that the Mariners are targeting a trade for Eugenio Suarez.
Suarez, now with the Diamondbacks, played for Seattle in 2022 and 2023.
He has 301 career home runs and is in the midst of a seven-year, $66 million contract originally signed when he was with the Cincinnati Reds. This is the final year of that deal.
Suarez is having a great season. He's batting .251 and already has 25 homers. That includes a four-homer game.
Across 2022-23 with the Mariners, Suarez slugged 53 homers in 312 games with a .751 OPS.

Seattle has Donovan Solano and Dominic Canzone platooning at first base, while rookie Ben Williamson holds down third base.
Suarez would likely take over at the hot corner, giving the Mariners more first base flexibility if they wanted it.
Seattle could also choose to DH Suarez.
The key would be to get his potent bat into their lineup, if the Diamondbacks are willing to deal him.
If Arizona wants to hold Suarez, they may also be willing to deal Josh Naylor, the lefty first baseman who is also in the midst of a strong season.
