Mariners predicted to sign $12 million .318 AVG breakout hitter, would replace Eugenio Suarez

With the loss of Eugenio Suarez to free agency, the Seattle Mariners need to come up with a backup plan in case he doesn’t re-sign. Luckily, there may be a player that could actually be a total replacement instead of a backup plan.

Fansided’s Christopher Kline predicts the Mariners could sign Miguel Andujar, who had his breakout year in 2025. While he’s not a power hitter like Suarez, he’s an amazing contact hitter.

“Miguel Andujar absolutely mashed last season, and while he vastly outperformed his metrics and is probably due for some regression, there ought to be plenty of interest in a flexible defender who can hit lefties especially well. The Seattle Mariners might be done with Eugenio Suárez experience; Andujar can pingpong between third base, the corner outfield and DH as needed, plugging multiple gaps and providing a slightly more consistent (if less explosive) offensive profile than Suárez,” Kline wrote.

This past season, Andujar slashed .318/.352/.470/.822 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, and 44 RBI in 94 games played. And, after the trade deadline when he was sent from the Athletics to the Cincinnati Reds, he slashed .359/.400/.544/.944, with seven of his 17 doubles and four of his 10 homers in 34 games played.

Andujar would also be a very cost-effective option. He’s projected to receive a two-year, $12 million deal, which would give the Mariners much more spending money for big fish.

Hopefully, the Mariners consider this option and get to work on contacting Andujar’s camp.
