The Seattle Mariners had to decide by Friday evening whether to keep Gregory Santos or not.
Santos was only projected to earn in the $800,000 range in salary arbitration.
Despite that, the Mariners haven't tendered Santos a contract. He will become a free agent, according to insider Francys Romero.
Injuries have sunk Soto's career in a big way over the past couple of seasons.
Across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he has made just 16 appearances total, with a 5.02 ERA.

Santos has a career 4.17 ERA at the major league level. If he can stay healthy, he can still be useful somewhere.
His best season was 2023 with the Chicago White Sox. That year, he had a 3.39 ERA and struck out 66 hitters in 66.1 innings pitched.
He came to Seattle after that season but has only made the aforementioned 16 appearances.
Now, he'll look for a new start somewhere, if he's healthy.
