Mariah Carey has marked the 25th anniversary of Glitter with an expanded digital edition and the album’s first vinyl release since 2001. The 27-track digital set adds 15 recordings to the original album, including material from Carey’s vault, new remixes and live performances.

The previously unreleased selections include “Lead The Way (1997 Version),” “Want You (Mariah Only Version),” “Out Here On My Own (Alternate Vocal Take)” and “All My Life (A Cappella).” A writing-session interlude and rough demo trace the development of “Never Too Far.” The set also includes a “Never Too Far / Hero (Medley)” with Westlife and a live “Glitter Medley” recorded on the Caution Tour. Channel Tres has remixed “All My Life,” while Rochelle Jordan contributes a reworked version of “Didn’t Mean To Turn You On.” Other additions include MJ Cole and Club Of Love remixes of “Loverboy.”
The standard vinyl edition is a Midnight Purple 2LP. A limited Glittering Pink 2LP adds “Out Here On My Own,” “Never Too Far/Hero (Medley)” and “Loverboy (Firecracker – Original Version).” Carey’s rendition of “Out Here On My Own” and the original “Firecracker” version of “Loverboy” previously appeared on her 2020 compilation The Rarities. The “Never Too Far/Hero (Medley)” studio recording makes its vinyl debut on the deluxe pressing.
The anniversary release also arrives with a restored 4K version of the “Loverboy” video. Directed by David LaChapelle and filmed at LA County Raceway in May 2001, it was rebuilt from original 35mm film elements, scanned frame by frame and re-edited to match the original. Glitter, Carey’s eighth studio album and the soundtrack to the film of the same name, blends dance-pop, funk, hip-hop and R&B, with production by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and DJ Clue. Its renewed audience attention followed the 2018 #JusticeForGlitter campaign, which helped propel the album to No. 1 on the iTunes albums chart. “I made this album with so much love and care, so it was devastating to watch it become a punchline,” Carey said. “I’m endlessly grateful to my fans who kept championing it all these years, and I hope even more people can finally hear it for what it is.”
