Margot Robbie haunts Sydney in a ghostly corset gown for ‘Wuthering Heights’ premiere

The stormy romance of “Wuthering Heights” has officially rolled into Sydney — and Margot Robbie dressed for the occasion.

The buzzy movie held its red carpet premiere down under Thursday, marking a homecoming for its Australian leads.

Robbie, 35, arrived in a custom Ashi Studio Couture gown in pale écru with sheer tulle off-the-shoulder sleeves and a tulle skirt, dramatically shredded and distressed at the cuffs and hem.

The bodice was created in collaboration with legendary corsetmaker Mr. Pearl to evoke 18th-century corsetry was hand-painted to resemble a centuries-old antique.

Her jewelry — a Lorraine Schwartz yellow and blackened gold and diamond choker and rings — once again added to the gothic allure, and custom Manolo Blahnik shoes finished the look.

Co-star Elordi, who plays Heathcliff opposite Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw, cut a striking figure in a blue double-breasted suit and a gold tooth cap like the one he wears in the film.

For the red carpet, the Aussie added some sparkle, however, with a tiny diamond next to an engraved “H” on the cap.

The “Wuthering Heights” press tour has been the stuff of fashion fantasies since kicking off in late January, with Robbie channeling Emily Brontë’s brooding heroine alongside stylist Andrew Mukamal. No surprise: he also masterminded her 2023 “Barbie” red carpet marathon.

For the Los Angeles premiere Jan. 28, Robbie wore a custom black-and-red ombré Schiaparelli gown representing the drama, romance, and passion in the story. But it was her jewelry that stole the show: the $8.8 million Taj Mahal diamond necklace once gifted to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton, who played Heathcliff in a 1958 “Wuthering Heights” adaptation.

At the film’s London premiere last week, she wore a replica of Charlotte Brönte’s mourning bracelet made from her fellow novelist sisters Emily and Anne Brönte’s hair. Emily wrote “Wuthering Heights” in 1847 and died a year later at age 30.

The Queensland native has also pulled out Victorian corsets, archival 1992 John Galliano, and vintage Vivienne Westwood, often referencing specific quotes from the novel.

Her feathered Victoria Beckham looks nodded to Catherine “tearing the pillow with her teeth,” while red snakeskin Dilara Findikoglu nodded to the line, “I’d rather be hugged by a snake.”

“Our outfits are going to evolve throughout the press tour to cover some of the scenes and ideas in the film,” she told Variety in Los Angeles.

The film, directed by Emerald Fennell and soundtracked by Charli XCX, hits theaters Feb. 13.
