The Toronto Maple Leafs might need to be sellers at the trade deadline after a season of struggles.
The Edmonton Oilers will certainly be buyers, but they have one veteran forward they wouldn't mind getting rid of.
That could make these Canadian clubs a match.
NHL Trade Talk's Spencer Lazary has proposed a deal that could help both sides, one which includes swapping Bobby McMann and Andrew Mangiapane.

The full proposal from Lazary:
- Maple Leafs get: Andrew Mangiapane, 2026 2nd-round pick, 2027 2nd-round pick
- Oilers get: Bobby McMann (50% salary retained by Toronto)
This would be a solid haul for Toronto if it determines McMann, a pending unrestricted free agent, doesn't want to sign a contract extension with the Leafs.
The Maple Leafs are devoid of young talent for the most part, so a pair of second-round picks would be a solid addition.
Mangiapane hasn't panned out for Edmonton, so they ditch that experiment in favor of McMann, who would be an immediate upgrade.

The main thing that would determine this deal's winner would be whether Edmonton could get McMann to sign a contract extension there. If they pull that off, the Oilers have a quality forward for the long haul, and it'd also deal a blow to their Canadian rival.
McMann seems likely to be involved in conversations one way or the other. Either he's getting a new contract, or he might get dealt.
