Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. As reported by Sky Sports Premier League on X, the Red Devils could launch a move for the Frenchman if he becomes available.

Mateta's current deal at Selhurst Park expires in the summer of 2027 and contract talks have reportedly stalled. The 28-year-old's future at the south London club remains uncertain and Ruben Amorim's side are understood to be monitoring the situation.

Manchester United have been long-term admirers of Mateta but they are not desperate to land a striker in January. However, they would be open to making a move for Mateta if Crystal Palace are open to offers.

The Eagles reportedly rejected offers up to £50 million for their star striker in the summer. However, with the Frenchman entering the final 18 months of his deal, his asking price could drop.

Mateta's future could also depend on the future of Oliver Glasner who is out of contract this summer. Should the Austrian choose to leave at the end of his deal, Mateta could also be on his way out.

Mateta initially joined Crystal Palace on loan from Mainz 05 in January 2021 before making his move permanent next summer. He has been pretty impressive during his time at Selhurst Park, particulalrly since Oliver Glasner took charge in February 2024.

The towering striker has 56 goals in 182 games for Crystal Palace, out of which 40 have come under Glasner in 89 games. He played a key role in helping Crystal Palace win the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield in 2025.

Manchester United have struggled for a lethal goalscorer in recent years and their £74 million summer acquisition Benjamin Sesko has failed to impress. The Slovenia international has only managed to find the back of the net twice in 15 appearances for the Red Devils so far.

Manchester United eyeing up January move for academy graduate they sold in 2022: Reports

Manchester United are reportedly looking to re-sign former academy graduate James Garner. As claimed by The Daily Mail, the Red Devils view the 24-year-old as a potential option to bolster their midfield.

Garner came through the youth ranks but left Old Trafford in 2022 after failing to secure first-team minutes. He made only seven senior appearances for his boyhood club before leaving in a deal worth up to £15 million with add-ons.

The tenacious midfielder has been impressive for Everton, particularly under David Moyes. The ex-Manchester United acamedy graduate has made 103 appearances for the Toffees so far, scoring thrice and producing six assists.
