Mamdani wants to ‘eat the rich’? Then who will be left to feed the city’s ginormous budget?

Beware of any politician who gleefully celebrates taxation like normal people would a sacred holiday.

Unfortunately, it’s too late for us New Yorkers. Our city foolishly elected Zohran Mamdani, who promised big government and the “warmth of collectivism.”

And in a new video posted Wednesday, Mamdani marked tax day by announcing the state’s new pied-a-terre tax that will slap an annual fee (on top of existing property tax) for people who own a second home here that is valued at over $5 million.

Mamdani estimates the new taxes will raise $500 million.

“When I ran for mayor, I said I was going to tax the rich,” he said over haunting music that sounded like it was from the “Succession” soundtrack.

The proud socialist then shoved his smug mug into the lens of the camera looking all of us dead in the eye. He tapped the camera and declared: “Well today, we’re taxing the rich.” He might as well have been licking his chops.

His extreme close-up immediately conjured up the image of Mark Wahlberg’s unhinged character in “Fear,” menacingly shoving his face into a security camera as he’s about to break into the home of his girlfriend and terrorize her family.

It was fitting.

Because he stuck his deranged face into the camera to instill his own kind of fear — into the wealthy and successful, who live, work or own property here.

He even disgustingly called out one, and only one billionaire by name and pointed to his deluxe apartment in the sky.

To promote his new tax, Zohran Mamdani chose to stand outside of Citadel CEO Ken Griffin’s apartment in the Big Apple and reference him by name. @NYCMayor /X

“Like for this penthouse, which hedge fund CEO Ken Griffin bought for $238 million,” Mamdani said.

It was vengeful. It was reckless. It was chilling.

Especially since a lunatic by the name of Luigi Mangione is about to stand trial, charged with the assassination of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the streets of Manhattan in late 2024.

That early morning murder in Midtown opened a portal to hell. Not just to wanton violence against the powerful, but for the elevation of Mangione to sainthood by the disgruntled lefties who hold the twisted belief that any kind of violence against the wealthy is not only justified, it is righteous.

And in that vein, it felt like Mamdani was symbolically offering Griffin up as sacrifice to the blood suckers who chant “tax the rich” at DSA rallies.

Come and git ‘em, kids!

Griffin is a tax paying private citizen, whose company has a Park Avenue office and employs New Yorkers. Though he lives in Miami, he is already paying oodles of property tax here and also supports many museums and causes through his philanthropic work.

He is generous to the city. Some thank you note from the mayor.

Mamdani’s act of invoking Griffin’s name was also dripping with hypocrisy.

As one may recall, Mamdani’s wife Rama Duwaji has an incredibly odious history of social media activity that includes liking posts supporting terrorists and claiming the October 7th massacre by Hamas was actually just a “mass rape hoax.”

Mamdani, a man who regularly takes to X to express his “outrage” over one thing or another had none to spare for his wife’s bigotry because she’s a “private person, who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall,” he claimed.

Therefore, he feels she is not fair game for scrutiny.

Except for the fact she is the First Lady of New York City and lives in a mansion paid for by tax dollars.

To Mamdani, Griffin is fair game to name check in such a fraught discourse, so long as it furthers his insane eat the rich agenda.

Of course, his wife, who reported making only $10,010 before expenses on their joint 2025 tax returns, sucks up the tax dollars. Griffin is filling the coffers.

Mamdani’s double standard reveals so much about their worldview: the takers are good. The givers are bad.

They must atone for their success and wealth by throwing more money into ever expanding bucket of unnecessary government projects.

Griffin – who moved his family and Citadel headquarters from Chicago to Miami in 2022, citing rising crime and high taxes – is a vocal advocate of small government.

On the contrary, these Democratic Socialists insist what’s his is theirs.

Soon they’ll run all of the billionaires out of town and they’ll move onto the next bracket to squeeze.

In the meantime, Mamdani has unfairly and dangerously made Griffin the face of greed. Shame on him.
