Malik Willis' contract is a big deal as he plays for Packers after Jordan Love injury

Malik Willis is getting quite the audition.

The Green Bay Packers' backup quarterback is now in the spotlight on Saturday night, playing in place of Jordan Love after the QB1 got a concussion.

And it's big timing for Willis, who has looked sharp and threw a perfect touchdown to Romeo Doubs.

Why?

Willis is a free agent in March.

He's always been viewed as an athletic quarterback with some upside, but he's never gotten a true starting chance.

Every time he steps in for Love, though, Willis looks pretty solid.

He should get a solid deal in free agency, and if some team wants to be bold, he could even be viewed as a potential starter.

Could the Minnesota Vikings sign him to compete with J.J. McCarthy? The Colts with Daniel Jones hurt? The Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes unlikely to be ready for Week 1?

There are definitely teams that could use a guy like Willis, and it seems he'd probably aim to go somewhere that doesn't quite have an entrenched, Week 1, franchise QB.

Willis might just be earning himself a bigger payday.
