WWE has had a pattern of releasing superstars and not renewing their contracts for quite some time now. Interestingly, after the release of a 40-year-old star, a lot of chaos and confusion were created in the pro wrestling world. Now, Karrion Kross has come clean on his situation post his WWE exit.
As mentioned by Fightful Select, several promoters and promotions believed that Karrion Kross was still under a WWE contract. They believed that his exit was just a work, and not legitimate, owing to his popularity with the Internet Wrestling Community.
Owing to this, Kross said that everyone was hesitant to reach out to him for offers, and he had to personally clear the air and convince them that he had actually been released. Interestingly, the former two-time NXT Champion had also made an appearance at the Ariel Helwani Show to confirm that he wasn’t putting up an act.
Karrion Kross fought his final match against Sami Zayn at the 2025 SummerSlam. The 40-year-old wrestler was trying to push Zayn to his dark side for him to unlock his potential to become a world champion. His wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, also handed the Canadian a metal pipe to use, but Zayn won the match without it.
Karrion Kross is not in touch with WWE
While promoters and promotions believed that Karrion Kross was still working for WWE, the reality was the stark opposite of this assumption. The abovementioned interview noted that Killer Kross has not been in touch with the Stamford-based promotion after his exit.
The former leader of The Final Testament said that the company helped him with his book launch. However, other than that, his communication lines with the company are cold. Instead, Kross has been making a big name for himself in the independent scene.
Killer Kross will be making an appearance on Pro Wrestling Revolver on February 5, 2026. He is also working on a Hollywood project right now, which is based on the real-life journey of the Hollywood stuntman Sammy Horowitz. It would be interesting to see what lies ahead for Kross.
