AEW veteran and announcer Taz has been missing from TV for a while. The ECW original star recently announced that he was taking time off due to surgery.
Excalibur and former AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson have been managing the commentary table in his absence. Taz was one of the most popular wrestlers of the 90s and 2000s. He made a name for himself in the Paul Heyman-run ECW. The Human Suplex Machine then showed up in WWE and became an instant hit with the fans. However, his in-ring career slowed down due to a few injuries, and the star became one of the most charismatic announcers in the business.
In a recent report, Fightful Select reported that the 58-year-old star is still under contract with the Tony Khan-led promotion. The report confirmed that the veteran needed total shoulder replacement and underwent surgery back in October. There is still no definite timeline for his return. Taz may be out for a while before returning to commentary full-time. The star seems to be recovering well after the surgery and even tuned in to watch New Year's Smash this past week.

AEW legend Taz shared a major update about Hook
Taz's son, Hook, is a prolific wrestler and is carrying on the family legacy. He is a former three-time FTW Champion. The 26-year-old is a member of the Opps faction under the leadership of Samoa Joe.
This past week, indie wrestling promotion Limitless Wrestling announced that the second-generation wrestler will be a part of their show on January 16. The announcement was retweeted by Taz on social media. This will be Hook's first major appearance outside AEW or ROH.
Hook will be part of the Limitless Rumble, a major attraction for the evening. The show will emanate from the historic Colisée in Lewiston, Maine.
